CLARK FREEPORT -- Several schools will benefit from the library and reading program launched by the Widus Foundation Incorporated.
This was learned from Widus Foundation Incorporated head Ronel Gulimlim during a recent media forum dubbed Talk Widus sponsored by the Pampanga Press Club and Widus Hotel and Casino.
The first “Adopt-A-Library” project of Widus Foundation will be launched at the Masamat Elementary School on October 20, Gulimlim said.
“This coming October 20, we will formally award the Widus Foundation Incorporated Adopt A Library project. Ginawa na natin ito noong nakaraang Talk Widus, we launched yung konsepto na helping public primary schools that needs these kinds of projects,” Gulimlim said.
The library will be housed inside an old 40-foot container van, which will be equipped with an air-condition set, two computers, books, and other learning materials, according to Gulimlim.
“Basically it’s a 40-foot container van and at the moment we are constructing the footing. This coming October 9 darating na po yung container van na yon and the beneficiary of this project will be the Masamat Elementary School in Mexico Pampanga,” he said.
The unique library will be located in the middle of a plant area inside the school, Gulimlim said.
He also disclosed that the Widus Hotel employees are planning to continue the project with a read-along activities once a week to help the students on reading and comprehension skills.
“Nagusap-usap nga kami, we will not stop constructing facilities. We will continue doing some after school project for volunteers activity to invite our employees to come up probably on Saturday afternoon to do reading program or read-along program para ma-enhance po yung mga na –identify na schools na medyo kailangan pa talaga ng assistance when it comes to reading comprehension and understanding,” Gulimlim said.
He said that Widus Hotel management also put up a box at the main entrance of the hotel where guests and employees may place used books in line with the firm’s donate a book program to support its Adopt A Library project.
