MABALACAT CITY -- Mayor Crisostomo Garbo said that good peace and order and traffic condition will attract investors into this component city.
“To attract more business and investment, traffic problems must be solved, while peace and order must be assured for all,” the mayor said.
Last September 1, Garbo said that the local government, through Task Force Balacat (TFB), started implementing a truck ban which minimized traffic during rush hours.
“To enforce well our traffic laws and re-engineer the flow, we created TFB, an interim group to provide immediate traffic solutions including public safety and order. The TFB operates under the paradigm of ‘Broken Windows Theory.’ A tried and tested formula used in the cities of New York, California and other big cities,” Garbo said.
In support of TFB, Garbo said that a seminar was recently conducted to train enforcers about traffic laws and updates, personality development and the operational management of TFB.
TFB already started the clearing of sidewalks, the mayor said.
“I know that it will affect the ambulant vendors but if we become lenient about it, sooner, there will be no place for pedestrian to walk on and traffic situation shall worsen. However, we assigned MTEG and Public Safety Department to find alternative area immediately for them to sell their goods,” he said.
