New San Fernando concept interpreted through digital poster making

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Some 64 young and talented artists from 24 public and private schools in the city interpreted the “New San Fernando concept” through arts during the first ever Digital Poster Making contest.

The activity was organized by the City Information Office, in partnership with the City Schools Division of San Fernando, to increase people’s level of knowledge and understanding of the components of being a great city: Green, Smart, Sustainable and Livable.

The competition was open to three categories namely Elementary, Junior High School and Senior High School. Each participant was allowed to do a digital painting, photo manipulation or graphic design using any computer application.

Twelve entries were chosen as winners and their artworks will be featured in the official desktop and poster calendars of the city for the year 2018.

Precious Roan Castro of San Pedro Elementary School was hailed grand winner for the Elementary category. While Pampanga High School’s representatives Rommel Malang and Marc Lemuel Gonzales bagged the grand prize for the Junior High School and Senior High School categories, respectively.

For the consolation prizes, the winners were Jerick Sta Rosa of Sindalan High School, Alexis Obenza of St. Vincent Integrated School, Nataniel Luismagne Rivera of University of the Assumption, Frances Bonus of St. John Bosco, Paula Jasmin Quilala and Maria Angela Manaloto of Information, Communication & Technology High School, Romy Sumarago Jr. of St. Vincent Integrated School, Jhadel Antonio of Pampanga High School and Jude Vergara of St. Nicholas College of Business and Technology.

All winners received cash, certificates and will be given 20 copies of desktop and poster calendars.

In his speech, Mayor Edwin Santiago lauded not only the students but also their parents and coaches for sharing their valuable time and efforts towards the activity’s success.

He also encouraged them to contribute to the realization of the New San Fernando concept and the city’s mission to be a Model City of Countryside Development by involving and engaging themselves in productive and proactive activities.

“Ang mga kabataang Fernandino ang mukha ng bagong San Fernando at napakalaki ng papel ninyong mga guro at magulang sa paghubog sa kanila upang maging modelong mamamayan dito sa ating syudad. Ang kaunlaran na aming tinatamasa ay hindi para sa amin kundi para sa ikabubuti nating lahat. Hangad namin na magkaroon ang bawat isa ng maunlad, mapayapa at masiglang pamumuhay,” Santiago added.

Also present during the activity were City Information Officer Engr. Remedios Agoncillo, City Accountant Maria Gisel Rivera and City Schools Division of San Fernando representative Jayson Guttierez. (PR)
