Torres joins boodle fight with Guagua jail inmates

Monday, November 20, 2017

GUAGUA -- This town's Mayor Dante Torres recently visited the Guagua District Jail here to check on the status of the jail facility which is located at the heart of the town's emerging business district.

Torres joined the boodle fight with dozens of inmates from different areas of Pampanga who have been detained due to drug related cases.

Torres said that the visit is also a look into the possibility of helping decongest the jail facility through relocation to another area.

It was revealed that the Provincial Government of Pampanga has donated a one hectare property for the transfer of the facility. However, the facility, through the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology would have to wait for funding for the construction of penitentiary buildings.

Torres said that the transfer of the said facility will open up the area for further expansion. The area is currently being developed as a premier investment area for the town. The facility is in close proximity to schools, a public hospital and commercial establishments.

The mayor said that some businessmen are keen at investing in the area.
