CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Department of Health (DOH), in collaboration with the Provincial Health Office (PHO), distributed on Monday 51 pedicabs (tricycles) to the top performing Barangay Health Workers (BHW) in 19 municipalities and two cities in Pampanga province.

Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda and PHO officer Dr. Marcelo Jaochico led the distribution at the Capitol grounds.

DOH said only registered and accredited BHWs can use the pedicabs, which shall only be used by BHWs in performing their official duties and responsibilities (house to house visits, referrals) and during health-related activities in the barangay.

Local government units’ BHWs are responsible for the maintenance of the pedicabs and these should be parked at the health facility where the BHWs are reporting.

The Health office added that the vehicles will be used in monitoring dengue cases, facilitate in looking for sick barangay folks, weighing of children and adults, vaccination of children, distribution of vitamins and other related medical purposes for the benefit of the public. (PR)
