SAN SIMON – It’s the town’s only rural health unit (RHU) but it again proved to be the best in Pampanga.
This, as the lone RHU of this town bested anew other health centers from the 23 cities and municipalities in the province after it bagged the first place in the implementation of Maternal Newborn Child Health and Nutrition (MNCHN).
The San Simon RHU headed by Dr. Marline Bagtas-Dela Rosa was recognized by the Department of Health (DOH)-Central Luzon Region for providing excellent health services to pregnant and newborn babies among the other 48 RHUs in Pampanga.
The MNCHN award, which was presented by DOH, Pampanga Provincial Health Office (PHO) and pharmaceutical company United Laboratories (Unilab), aims to recognize local health units which achieved the twin goals of maternal mortality reduction and neonatal mortality reduction, with emphasis on the biological link of the mother and child.
According to Mayor Leonora Wong, the MNCHN award is an affirmation of the continuous outstanding health services delivered by the local government to its people, in support of Governor Lilia Pineda’s flagship health programs.
She noted that the San Simon RHU is always focused on ensuring the health and wellness of every Simonian, especially children who are expected to continue pursuing the development of their hometown.
“Once again, San Simon championed in the implementation of MNCHN, an award that recognizes our efforts in keeping our pregnant mommies and newborn babies healthy. This is a very important recognition for San Simon because it shows how we value the health of every Simonian, especially mothers and children,” she said.
Wong, meanwhile, stressed that the award is a fruit of the unity and strong will of the local government, RHU and Simonians in keeping themselves and their community healthy and fit to live in.
She also expressed her gratitude to DOH, PHO and Unilab for recognizing their efforts in terms of health programs, and vowed to continue delivering excellent health services to the people.
