DESPITE his reported forthcoming big step in his political career, 4th District Representative Juan Pablo “Rimpy” Bondoc recently underscored that his top priority is to push for a shift to a federal system of government.

Bondoc, who also serves as the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) Pampanga president, said he would introduce and pitch the concept of federalism to his constituents.

“Bilang presidente ning partido kening probinsya, ing programa ning Presidente Rodrigo Duterte kalupa ning pederalismo ing ipaliwanag tamu kareng taga-probinsya para misanmetung tamu keng panyulung (As president of the party in our province, I am bound to introduce the programs of President Rodrigo Duterte like federalism to our fellow provincemates so we can be united for development),” he said.

“Lakwan tamu pamu ing pulitika, ampo nung ninung tagal governor o congressman. Masyadong mababo ita. Mas importante ing sumulung ya pamu ing Pampanga (Let’s leave politics first. Never mind who will be running for governor or congressman. That is too shallow for now. What’s more important is the progress of Pampanga),” he added.

Bondoc said Pampanga is expected to benefit from a federal system, especially in the infrastructure, agriculture and tourism sectors.

Under the proposed government system, Bondoc said that Pampanga will be able to solely develop and utilize its assets, as well as craft laws and ordinances tailored for the province and its people’s needs.

“Ing potensyal ning Pampanga maragul pu at mas lalu tamung adevelop at apakinabangan nung umiral ne ing federalism. Kaya puspusan pu ing pamagobra tamu at suporta tamu keng presidenti (The potentials of Pampanga are promising and we can further develop and utilize it if federalism will be implemented. That is why we continue to work for and support the programs of our President),” he said.

Meanwhile, Bondoc urged politicians, especially those who recently jumped ship to the administration party, to use their membership in pushing for federalism, as well as promote the other programs of Duterte including the fight against illegal drugs and the “Build, Build, Build” program.

“Iwasan tamu pamu ing pulitika. Dakal ya programa ing presidente a makasanting keng bansa tamu, lalu para keng Pampanga. Pisopan-sopan taya para asulung tamu ini. Ing pulitika tutuki nemu iyan (Let’s veer away from politics first. Our president has a lot of programs for the betterment of our country, especially for Pampanga. Let’s be united in pushing for this. Politics can come later),” he stressed.
