ANGELES CITY -- Three suspected members of a budol-budol gang were arrested on Tuesday during an entrapment operation by joint elements of the city police and security personnel of SM City Clark.
Police identified the arrested persons as Maria Luisa Constantino Pangan, 43, of Bantog Norte, Cabanatuan City; Lanie Pascual Jacob, 38, also of Bantog Norte, Cabanatuan City; and Aurea Chaves Manansala, 65, of San Rafael, Guagua, Pampanga.
In his report to city police director Danilo Bautista, Police Station 4 chief Luisito Tan said the suspects were caught selling fake jewelry inside the said mall.
With the help of mall personnel, the city police conducted an entrapment operation against the suspects.
A mall security officer pretending to be a jewelry buyer was able to acquire three rings and two necklaces from the trio. According to Tan, the jewels turned out to be fake.
Charges of estafa were filed against the suspects, who are all detained at the said police station.
Tan said the suspects are believed to be members of a gang that perpetrate the budol-budol, a scam that involves a bundle (budol) of cash padded inside with sheets of paper cut in the size of money. (Reynaldo G. Navales)
