CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office here was hailed as this year’s Outstanding Regional Office besting 16 other regions in the country in the implementation of programs and infrastructure projects.
DPWH regional director Alfredo Tolentino, who was also adjudged as this year’s Best Regional Director, confirmed this to Sun.Star.
The award for Outstanding Regional Office is an annual citation based on effective and efficient implementation of infrastructure projects in terms of quality, maintenance and construction.
It was formally received by Tolentino from DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson during the formal awarding ceremonies at the DPWH National Office.
Tolentino also received the awards for Best in Construction and Quality Control for the regional office here.
“These awards would not mean that the DPWH will be sitting on its laurels. Instead, these achievements inspire us to do better in our job and try to maintain a winning streak in the next assessment,” Tolentino said, adding that current DPWH programs here are now within 90 percent accomplishment.
Tolentino’s award was based on the assessment on the DPWH National Office on the accomplishments of his office, the efficiency of implementation of projects and his well-rounded approach to respond to the needs of the regional sector in terms of infrastructure development.
The DPWH here also received P10,000 per employee as incentives for the awards received by the region.
Tolentino said the DPWH will strive to continue its commitment to pursue infrastructure developments, with all sectors of the community through working along areas of possible cooperation.
He added the DPWH will continue with the still unfinished MacArthur Highway widening project here, as the DPWH chief Singson had reportedly lifted the ban on the cutting of the trees along the highway. (Ian Ocampo Flora/Sunnex)
