ANGELES CITY -- Anakpawis Partylist representative Fernando “Ka Pando” Hicap filed Tuesday House Bill 5297 or "An Act Providing for the Mandatory Appointment of a Municipal Veterinarian Officer."

Hikap said the move is for the purpose of decisively addressing the proliferation of contagious and harmful animal diseases in the countryside and the immediate delivery of public veterinary services to far-flung villages where the raising and production of farm animals is concentrated.

Masantol most wanted nabbed

Man, 42, slain in San Fernando

2 drug pushers arrested in Porac

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga -- Two suspected drug pushers were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Manibaug, Paralaya, Porac town, Sunday.

Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Recomono Jr., Pampanga police provincial director, identified the suspects as Jerico Juco, 29, a resident of Nepo Subdivision and Marco Macapinlac, 28, a resident of Bagong Bayan, both in Angeles City.

GUAGUA-- Betis is staging its first open national competition for the country’s wood furniture makers and carvers as part of its annual Dukit Festival this month.

Sta. Ana releases last batch of educational assistance

STA. ANA -- The municipal government of Santa Ana has released the last batch of educational assistance for this year with the local government unit shelling out almost P3 million in aid to indigent students for the whole year.

Mayor Rommel Concepcion led the distribution of P250,000 to 161 beneficiaries at the Santa Ana Municipal hall yesterday. The group of beneficiaries included 89 college students and 72 high school students with assistance ranging from P2,000 to P1,000 respectively.

CHR: Police torture, rights abuses rampant in Central Luzon

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO-- Police torture and other forms of human rights abuses are still rampant in Central Luzon, Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Regional Director Jasmin Regino said.

Based on the data of the CHR, as of 2013, Central Luzon recorded some 187 cases of human rights violations. From January to November of this year, the CHR reported 173 cases.

Slay suspect on the run

Inter-regional Terminal Hub opens at Robinsons Starmills Pampanga

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Officials of Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC) led the opening of the first ever Inter-Regional Terminal Hub in Pampanga at the Robinson Starmills in a bid to interconnect neighboring regions to Central Luzon.

The opening was attended by Mayor Edwin Santiago and officials of different bus companies and is the third of its kind in the Philippines. RLC has transport hubs in Robinsons Novaliches and Robinsons Place Dumaguete.
