Mayor admits backing Villar

MEXICO-- Mayor Teddy Tumang has admitted before the members of the Society of Pampanga Columnists his support to the presidential bid of Nacionalista Party (NP) standard bearer Senator Manny Villar.

Tumang said Villar is a long time friend and has been very supportive of his various projects in his town.

Tumang said, even before Villar confirmed presidential bid, Villar is well loved by Mexicanos because of the implementation of his projects and programs.

Tumang, however, reiterated his “loyalty” to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and to the First Family even though he decided not to support the presidential candidate of Lakas-Kampi-CMD, Gilbert Teodoro, whom the Arroyo is supporting.

In an interview, Tumang said Villar has the edge of winning the presidential race in his town versus other candidates.

He added that 60 percent of Mexicanos will go for Villar as he has been a partner in the development of Mexico since “time immemorial.”

Tumang was first identified as a supporter of Villar when he attended the 41st birthday celebration of former 4th District Representative Juan Pablo “Rimpy” Bondoc.

Villar also attended the said occasion together with some local officials.

Among those officials were Masantol Mayor Peter Flores, Minalin Mayor Edgar Flores, San Luis Mayor Jayson Sagum, Candaba Vice Mayor Bienvenido Gatus, former Sto. Tomas Mayor Lucas Arceo and Candaba Mayoralty bet Andy Gulapa. (Herbert P. Mapiles)
