Mercado: Mark Sison replies

"SYMPTOMS of chronic hunger," City Administrator Mark Allen Sison said of the incoming administration which accused the outgoing city officials of looting City Hall properties.

"Balamu ela mitataganan pamangan, maliswas la," Sison said of the baseless and reckless charges Atty. Dennis Pamintuan aired recently. Lawyer Pamintuan, spokesman and political manager of the putative winner for city mayor reported that government property was being carted out at night, connoting acts of stealing.

"The young lawyer should know and distinguish between government property from personal property. He has maliciously mistook one from the other," Sison said.

It appears that officials co-coterminous with Mayor Nepomuceno's term had packed up their private belongings, including their own laptops and personal work desks, as well as old newspapers, books, clippings, and even old slippers to clear their soon-to-be-vacated offices.

To move their packed belongings out during office hours will cause inconvenience, interrupt their work, and cause public curiosity. That the private property was being taken out at night time was the convenient, proper and decent way to move out, Sison said.

Lawyer Pamintuan should be educated on how government properties are dispensed and disposed of, including how those who were entrusted such. Those accountable personnel should get property clearance before quitting government service. The concerned staff is answerable to the City Government with the Memorandum of Receipt being secured against them.

How could they steal government property which is illegal and ultimately is a cause of action against them?

rConsidered one of Pampanga's Most Powerful Women, CDC Director Ma. Theresa Laus owes her dynamism less to her connection to people in high office than her essential likeability as a person.

One of her outstanding traits is her persuasiveness.

During the 2004 Senatorial campaign, she introduced me to Pia Cayetano. She whispered something to the candidate's ear which moved the lovely woman to hold my hand, while shaking it vigorously.

I was seated a dining table at Holiday Clark's Mequeni restaurant. The future senator would not let go of my hand as she charmed my fellow dinners with her campaign lines. How could a gentleman pull his hand from a woman's prolonged grip without offending feminine sensibility?

Only this year, Tess Laus introduced me to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo during a merienda at the Music Room after necrological rites for the dead press secretary Cerge Remonde. She must have said some good words about me to the President who then indulged my request to let our group tour the office of the late dictator Marcos.

That's how persuasive Tess Laus is. People gravitate to her particularly because she is happy and optimistic person. Her happy nature is environment friendly, June 5 being International Environment Day.

Her optimism lights up her own group at Quota Int'l as well as any organization she is part of. Her happy nature is a source of inspiration by her business and social colleagues, her family members, and the Fernandinos who admire and love this Cabiao, Nueva Ecija native who now speaks the dialect like a genuine-born Kampampangan.

Her bubbly and vibrant personality brings peace of mind and immense joy to her dearest spouse Levy P. Laus. This inspires the great LPL to greater achievements by to expand their business empire, according to GM Jun Sula.

Happy birthday Ms. Tess Laus (June 5)! May your name and goodwill spread far and wide like Max Fried Chicken that people never get tired of enjoying in all occasions.
