MEA culpa.
In my column last Sunday, I made an erratum.
Have something to report? Tell us in text, photos or videos.
Mina Paras was the first editor-in-chief of the Holy Family Academy school newspaper. Cor Unum or One Heart is the title of the said paper.
Mina wrote my editor Ria de Fiesta, the following: “…Anyway, i just want to correct what Malu Gueco wrote in her column Jan. 22, 2012. I was d first editor-in-chief of Cor Unum. We were d second batch that graduated from high school at HFA. I was d one who suggested a school paper to our English teacher d late Paciencia Nepomuceno…”
Dacal a salamat for the Information, Mina. Danke (German for thank you) Ria for the communication.
Ina Nepomuceno
My chum, during my schooldays at the Holy Family Academy (HFA) from 1960 to 1970, INA, passed away on Jan. 16 2012.
Please join us in uttering the following prayers of comfort.
A Prayer by Fr. Thomas Merton
MY LORD GOD, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me.
I cannot know for certain where it will end nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think that I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so.
But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road though I may know nothing about it. Therefore will I trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone.

“For the Lord does not abandon anyone forever. Though he brings grief, he also shows compassion according to the greatness of his unfailing love."
Lamentations 3:22-26; 31-32 (NLT)
*****
“Dear Lord,
Please help me in this time of loss and overwhelming grief. I don't understand why my life is filled with this pain and heartache. But I turn my eyes to you as I seek to find the strength to trust in your faithfulness. I will wait on you and not despair; I will quietly wait for your salvation. My heart is crushed, but I know that you will not abandon me forever. Please show me your compassion, Lord. Help me through the pain so that I will hope in you again. I believe this promise in your Word to send me fresh mercy each day. Though I can't see past today, I trust your great love will never fail me. Amen.”
