GOVERNOR Lilia “Nanay Baby” Pineda implied the cryptic though rhythmic vernacular concoction in reacting with sarcastic banter to the remarks of a radio/TV personality who sounded belittling her efforts to prioritize the construction of hospitals. According to her, what the provincial government had built in Balitucan,
Magalang was not a Mona Lisa Medical Center – they just lie there and they die there.
It was rather a modest hospital that caters to the medical needs of poor patients.

In spite of her wounded feelings however, the amiable and generous governor held no rancor on Perry Pangan, ing pisan kung alang patugut. Her wrath was never upon Boy Santiago, ing kamaganak ning bise alkalde keti siyudad ning San Fernando. Neither was she mad at Albert Lacanlale, ing talapanasbuk ning Alkalde Mexico a magnasang tagal bise gobernandor. If so, for whom the bantering bell of sarcasm tolled?
Obviously, all the fanatical viewers of CLTV 36 knew darn well for whom it rang.

The malcontent attacked the greatness of the governor in putting up hospitals by disparaging it, but who’s he? Perhaps you came to know him as a prolific writer, a hard-hitting radio/TV commentator, and a traditional politician rolled up into one.
Indeed, he used to be considered as the dean of local journalists and a columnist who seldom edited his writings. Likewise, he was a former councilor of Angeles City who eventually became the city mayor in an acting capacity for three months.

What tempted the hospital down-player to evoke an ill-feeling from the governor?
What made the so-called Jack-of-all-Trades turn into a master of underestimation?
Provincial Information Officer (PIO) Joel Mapiles properly offered an answer – the governor’s busyness. The PIO said that the belittler had asked him to arrange his appointment with the lady governor which he did. But because of her tight schedule doing the rounds of the province, she inevitably missed meeting people at the capitol.

Why was the under-rater eager to meet the governor? One media man said, “He probably wants to run for Provincial Board Member under the banner of the ‘Unbeatable.’” Another one asked, “Can a voter in Angeles City be qualified to run in the second district?” Still another media man answered, “Yes, simply because he can always register as an electorate in his hometown of Porac.”
And then, a popular photo journalist voiced out the popular saying, “Many are the ways to skin a cat.”

The governor’s reaction took place during her dialogue with the PNP Station Commanders of Pampanga Towns including the City of San Fernando at the Executive House last Wednesday.
There, in her jesting moment, she asked the members of the Fourth Estate to cease from making her accomplishments known to the public, “Kayong taga media huwag na kaya ninyong isulat ang nagagawa natin upang wala na silang basehang pagatake sa akin.” I heard that straight from the horse’s mouth, so to speak.
