Nanay

YESTERDAY was her birthday. Among her well-wishers were the throngs of local officials under her watch who gave her not just the usual greetings but statistics that will somehow paint a picture of her victory this May.

Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, the birthday woman, has the support of almost all Kapampangans, starting with local officials in the province down to the local folks on the streets to the most elite in the business sector.

She will surely be maintaining her Capitol post this time with her son, the soon-to-be Vice Governor of the province. Governor Pineda will be seeking re-election, while former Lubao Mayor Dennis “Delta” Pineda will be trying it out to be the legislative chief at the Provincial Board.

The mother-and-son duo are unbeatable this May polls. Surveys are in the hearts of the Kapampangans who will fight to the finish to have the tandem have seats at the Provincial Capitol. Governor Pineda will serve her three terms as the highest elective official of the province – that’s the forecast.

Her victory this forthcoming election might be her grandest gift. Her “pa-birthday” to the province meanwhile is her utmost service to the Kapampangans.

Since Day One of her governorship, she never stopped serving her constituents. “She’s untiring,” commented most Capitol employees.

Kapampangans now feel that the Capitol exists and that the provincial government reaches out to them.

If I may rate her administration, all aspects of her local governance will pass with flying colors. All sectors in the province now are satisfied with what the Capitol is doing for the welfare of the Kapampangans. What more could we ask for?

More than her birthday, she spends every day as a special day for her, serving her Kapampangan constituents with the passion of a true leader and the heart of a mother tending to her children’s needs. “Nanay” is not just a name but a title aptly describing the Governor for her care to the province which loves her.

I may be one of the unheard of witnesses of Governor Pineda’s accomplishments and achievements but I can shout to the world that I am proud to be a Kapampangan for having a political leader who truly serves her people well.

Happy birthday pu Governor Nanay!

Last Wednesday, barangay officials and health workers gathered at the Mt. Arayat National Park to give the governor a surprise advanced birthday party.

As she recognized the efforts of local officials, she appealed to residents of Arayat town to do their part in preserving the peace and order situation in relation to the forthcoming mid-term elections.

She likewise gave a surprise bonus for the Kapampangans that she will provide bigger financial assistance and more projects to the town that could have the most peaceful conduct of the coming elections should she be favored in her re-election bid.

It can be noted that Pampanga has been tagged by the Comelec as one of the 15 provinces under the election watch-list of the commission.

“Let us show to the whole country that we are a province of peace-loving people who work for progress and development,” Pineda said.

It’s a working advanced birthday celebration for the governor.
