Big Winners-A A +A

THE dust of the 2013 elections had settled. An objective review of the results in the province provides some pleasant surprises.
Yeng Guiao, the fiery coach of Rain or Shine was definitely an underdog in the First Congressional District of Pampanga. He was perceived to be no match to the veteran Tarzan Lazatin. Then, something happened. For reasons only known to him, Tarzan opted to challenge Mayor Ed Pamintuan for the Mayorship of Angeles City. Yeng Guiao had to contend only with Blue Boy Nepomuceno. Guiao wisely allied himself with Pamintuan. The former Vice Govenor became the duly elected Congressman of his district. If only his tenner (Bren Z. Guiao) could see him now. The son is a champion coach and hopefully a champion solon of the people.
Dante Torres is like Don Quijote fighting the wind mills. He was like a token candidate against the well entrenched Mayor Ric Rivera of Guagua, Pampanga. If you count their respective posters, the ratio is 100 to 1 in favor of the incumbent. Nobody would dare to take even a friendly bet for Torres to prevail. The people of Guagua know better. They wanted a change, a peaceful transition. They put to power Dante and hopefully, he can deliver so the people's choice is not in vain.
Bon Alejandrino has been a bridesmaid several times in Arayat politics. He was a leader alright but he has never won an election. He was a perennial candidate for Mayor. In the last elections, Larry Trinidad the Vice Mayor was tipped to succeed Mayor Chito Espino. Even the elder Benny Espino thought he had better chances. The people of Arayat rose to rally behind Bon and the Alejandrino's curse of losing has been broken. The scion of heroes, Bon is at the helm of Arayat.
Guiao, the proponent of Clark International Airport; Torres, the Impossible Dream of Guagua and Ben Mejandrino, the indefatigable warrior of Arayat are three of our colorful officials of the Province that produced Jose Abad Santos.
