At Close Range

HE COULD have stayed in corporate offices in Detroit, Michigan where he occupied a lofty position. He opted, however, to reach out to his compatriots, specifically his town.
As president of World Relief Mission Inc., he marshaled his company's resources to solicit donations in the form of relief items and equipment from individuals and companies and send them over to consignees in Pampanga at his own expense.
Over the years, he has sent equipment like dialysis machines, wheelchairs, medicines and supplies through the local government unit of Mabalacat, for distribution to hospitals, public especially, and to various recipients.
For next year, he plans to send more even as he invited officials of Mabalacat City to come to Detroit for a first-hand look at the work of World Relief. He plans to give coronary care units and pacemakers for heart disease patients and birthing session and newborn screening equipment for the use of the City's rural health units.
He also plans to send relief goods to Yolanda victims who have since resided in Mabalacat City. Present during his visit last Monday"s flag ceremony were: Mayor Boking Morales, Vice Mayor Christian C. Halili and Councilors Rox Pena and Amauri "Bok" Tiglao. Dra. Ma. Clara Aquino was also in attendance.
Here's an important activity: a 5-kilometer fun run will be held from SM San Fernando to SM Pampanga on Saturday, December 28, 2013. Here's one opportunity where you can share while promoting your health. I encourage people to join this relevant event to be led by SM officials like Lana Eroba of SM San Fernando and Junias Eusebio of SM Pampanga.
Offices in government seem to be deserted as everyone filed leaves of absences to take advantage of long weekends. More flocked to hideaways and vacation spots like Baguio where there seems to be a shortage of rooms and accommodations. Ditto with Tagaytay where the weather is very conducive to rest and recreation.
