Lonely at the top

IT IS commonly said that it is lonely at the top. Indeed it is, I suppose. Look at President Noynoy Aquino. Last Friday it was Valentines Day, and I think he was missing the fun which I presumed he used to do when he was not yet president of our republic, and that is having a date whom he he can freely have dinner with in a popular resto and the evening might have ended in a motel room.

When you are the president, there are so many self-imposed restrictions. I think you are not even free to love whomsoever you wanted. And even if you are free to make choices, your choices may not wanted to be in the center of public eye.

Look what happened with those publicized affairs with Shalani, Liz Uy, Grace Lee and few more others. You might even think that why would a single girl, in her marrying age, will not jump into marriage with the most eligible bachelor in the country?

I think President Noy was really dead serious in courting any of these buena familia girls, and maybe wanting to marry and raise a family.

What do they say? "No success can compensate the failure in the home." With no family, where is home?

"Muntik ng naging baby sitter si Pangulong Noy", said an item in a column in an entertainment page. It seems he was asked by sister Kris to baby sit for Joshua and Bimby. It was Kris' birthday last Friday, valentine's day and she wanted to party with friends.

Of course it was no longer reported how the president turned down the sister's request.

It may have been President Noy's selfless dedication to being the chief executive of the country that at this time love is not too many a splendored thing.

Some stories I've heard about the president when he was still in his early twenties and was a student in Ateneo de Manila University, he was a frequent visitor of his college buddy Cristino Naguiat Jr. known to many as Bong.

Bong was staying then with his parent's house in Marisol Village now known as Barangay Ninoy Aquino in Angeles City. During semestral breaks, Noynoy spent his vacations in Hacienda Luisita. During weekends, Noynoy will call by long distance his college buddy and asked if they can have dinner and good time later.

Good time may mean many things in Angeles City, particularly to men with so much money and testestorone.

I presume President Noy may have many fond and fun memories of his visits in Angeles City. Angeles can wait for President Noy when he will end his term 28 months from now.
