Storms in Pampanga

-A A +A

WE ARE in the news. Pampanga is in the headlines. We are in the center of controversies. The major events of the nation revolve around the province.

AGAW BATO. The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) was collectively relieved. The supposed drug busters are the drug pushers. After confiscating drugs from suspects, the police officers sell the shabu themselves. What a letdown. The Regional Director of the PNP Central Luzon, Raul Petrasanta confirmed the syndicate in their own ranks. The venue of their operations is PAMPANGA.

GLORIA. The former President’s birthday is forthcoming. Once the most powerful lady in the country, she finds herself confined in a hospital room. The plunder cases filed against her have yet to be heard. Evidence in court has yet to be adduced. Since plunder is a non-bailable offense, her continuous detention becomes a certainty. It is almost forgotten that she was originally detained for purported electoral fraud. For better or for worse, GMA remains a hot copy. She wants to come home to PAMPANGA.

DENNIS. We know him to be a promising young man. No one is surprised that he became the director general of the Technology Resource Center. He is articulate. He is handsome. He has pedigree. He is well-mannered (Magalang). What a difference a day makes. The Pork Barrel issue changed the lives of Janet Napoles, Ben Hur Luy, the three senators and yes, Dennis.

Dennis points to Sen. Bong Revilla as the person on the other line. The senator told him supposedly how to allot his pork. Whistle Blower Luy in turn points to Dennis as a recipient of a substantial bribe. Dennis happens to be a native of Magalang, PAMPANGA.

DELFIN. Xevera is like a meteor. It shoots up fast in our consciousness. Here is a subdivision with a complete package – a church, a market, a school even roller coaster (tsubibo).

Clients lined up for a chance to own a house at affordable price. Xevera became an instant hit. Xevera is in Bacolor. Xevera is in Mabalacat. Delfin Lee is the most popular Taipan. He could even be seen on national television thru ABS-CBN. Everything seemed perfect so it seemed.

Then, the bubble burst. Syndicated Estafa charges were filed. Not even the brilliance of his lawyer, Atty. Willie Rivera could stop the service of the arrest warrant. Pag-Ibig beneficiaries were allegedly made synonymous with ghosts. Delfin Lee is detained in the Provincial Jail of Pampanga.
