THE FESTIVAL AIR is soon upon us, well, on 2016 when the great charade that is the presidential elections will be held.

This early, we are greeted by announcements, survey results and press releases about the national candidates led by incumbent Vice President Jejomar C. Binay with 40% favorable result leading ertswhile rival DILG Secretary Mar G. Roxas, senatorial topnotcher Grace Poe, Chiz Escudero and Alan Peter Cayetano who has made early exposure via PTK, meaning roughly-presyo, trabaho, kita.

Well, VP Binay is the logical successor to PNoy by all means and standards, keeping steadfastly his political party but in politics, there is no permanent hold on the alliance and allegiance.

Between now and 2016, there would be multiple alliances factoring in the winnability of candidates. Anything can happen until that time.

In Mabalacat City, partyman Mayor Marino "Boking" Morales still holds sway as he clings to his party and post. After all, he was, he still is and will be the standard bearer of Kambilan in the city. He is the star against the falling star, Cris Garbo who is expected to lay claim to the mayorship. Cris, as records show, has been a consistent winner in his political career.

Whether or not Governor Lilia "Nanay Baby", the star for all seasons, will put her support behind Cris is the big question. The good governor may still keep her gubernatorial post.

In Angeles City, it will still be the outstanding world mayor, Edgardo "EdPam" Pamintuan. His achievements strongly back up his candidacy and is considered a shoo-in for the mayoralty post.

Ditto with Mayor Romy Pecson who has and is performed/performing well in the first class municipality of Magalang.

No longer a sleepy town, Magalang may yet rise to become an important investment place.

Of course, members of the City Council of Mabalacat will be ready for another run for councilor as they have performed well in their respective posts: Benny Jocson, Atty. Geld Guthrie Aquino, Rox Pena,Krizzanel Garbo, Froy Galang, Jeng Yumul, Carlo Nino Rivera, Eddie Sotto, Amauri Tiglao, and Dwight Morales. Several codes like the tax code, and the gender and development code emanated from the Sangguniang Panlungsod.

Some quarters cite the Digos case as similar to the Mabalacat case in precluding Mayor Morales from running again but there is a whale of a difference in the cited election cases: the entity and character of Mabalacat has changed dramatically in the population, income and area parameters thereby ensuring his another two terms as mayor, as differentiated from the Digos case. This probably settles the issue of Mayor Boking's eligibility to run for mayor in 2016. For all intents and purposes, it is over but the shouting for him.
