MVP in Pampanga

-A A +A

BUSINESS mogul and philanthropist Manuel V. Pangilinan observed his 65th birthday in Pampanga last Monday.

Highlighting his natal celebration was the inauguration of the MVP building on J. Abad Santos Ave., City of San Fernando. The edifice will house the influential and mass-oriented Kapampangan Development Foundation which has been doing extraordinary work in the field of health, especially for persons with disabilities.

The KDF chaired by the corporate tycoon is the only local organization of its kind that can rival or hold a candle to the social and humanitarian work of Gov. Lilia Pineda.

Under MVP’s tutelage and direction, the KDF has been doing splendid accomplishments in providing care, support, and prosthetic devices to the handicapped and impaired. Executing the overall objectives of the Foundation is former provincial board member Benny Ricafort. Benny who hails from Sta. Rita town was formerly president and CEO of Clark Development Corp.

The inauguration of the MVP building followed the heels of Gov. Pineda’s inauguration of a modern P12.5-M Diagnostic Center and Out-Patient Department of the Diosdado Macapagal Memorial Hospital in Guagua, Pampanga.

Like the KDF which specializes in helping PWDs, the provincial-owned hospital provides quality medical services to indigent cabalen. If MVP’s group concentrates on the more expensive and specialized rehabilitation of the physically impaired, Nanay Baby prioritizes the upgrading of local hospitals to better serve the countless sick and poor people who need endless medical care and support.

Health being a day to day problem here will lift the KDF’s public image to the level of the provincial government’s program for medical services.

Our curious cabalen who are watching local development activities from their comfortable enclaves and condominiums in Metro Manila are happy to know that the KDF is a partner- and not a rival- of the Governor’s social amelioration and health programs.

Also the supporters of Nanay Baby are not concerned about the MVP-led mission’s growing influence and goodwill from the cabalen.

But it is a fact that many wealthy and well-placed Pampangos in the Metro Manila societies keep asking why there are no capable and credible local residents with the quality and charisma of Mrs. Pineda. Definitely, she is unbeatable at this stage and it appears she and her tribe will continue what to them is destiny.

Against the Nanay’s ineluctable destiny was Among Ed’s recreated history. Has former Gov. Ed Panlilio accepted the reality of the lady’s invincibility? If there is someone who can put up a decent fight for the governorship it would be Rep. Oscar Rodriguez. But Cong. Oca will not gamble on a game with an uncertain outcome.

No one from the Liberal Party, not the NP, and definitely not the UNA in this province can win the masses from the Governor.

Only the KDF, like Paul when struck by lightning, can become an irresistible force of history against the Pinedas’ immovable object of destiny.
