BOARD Member Cris Garbo is threatening to contest the mayoralty of Mabalacat City in 20l6 but City Mayor Boking Morales is not taking the challenge lightly. He is prepared to fight his last battle in bullfight fashion – finish the opponent with a coup d’grace.

Mayor Boking told a Mabalacat Kapihan at Clark last week that the elections are yet 18 months away and the AIM graduate is focused on achieving the maximum results of his plans, programs, and activities.

The imminent match up of the two has taken a showbiz color with Garbo who is known as Derek Ramsey of the Capitol contesting Morales aka Gabby Concepcion of Mabalacat.

The mayor’s immediate goal is to enlarge and deepen his performance in delivery of basic services: in good governance, education, peace and order, fiscal stability, and environment.

His distant objective is to attract investors and land developers to relocate and invest their resources in his city, “saying the neighbor city (Angeles) is almost bursting to the seams in development. Our city is the proximate and logical arena for the economic spill over,” the country’s longest serving LGU executive said.

Morales holds the record of being the founder of the first community college in the province, years ahead of the City College of San Fernando, according to city spokesman Diosdado Pangilinan.

The mayor has stepped up simultaneous high impact projects recently in obvious response to Garbo’s political acceleration program. Garbo boasts about and hopes for Governor Lilia’s blessing and support to his crusade to oust Mayor ‘Gabby’ from office.

Capitol sources confirmed that ‘Derek’ has been badmouthing Boking to Nanay Baby, citing especially Mabalacat’s fiscal and debt problems.

“Nung miyalal ne naman po i Boking, e malaut misangla ya ing munisipio,” the board member reportedly told the governor to demolish the rival.

“Nung i Boking isangla ne, ika galang pisali miya?” Nanay Baby jokingly riposted. “Garbo replied with a loud laughter, feeling secured of his intimacy and closeness to the Gov,” informants said. Garbo makes it a point to be seen in the company of the Nanay. “He even comes earlier than Vice Gov. Dennis and has the most photo shoots with her second only to board member Ric Yabut who dreams of getting anointed as congressional candidate,” insiders disclosed.

Boking, a lady’s man, is a prolific father of a dozen and a half children. Unwittingly his sympathy lies on women especially pregnant and lactating mothers who inspired him to establish five birthing stations in his city. He has initiated a 3-storey l5-classrom additional wing at the city college, and will inaugurate a waste management facility in August. Its 3-hectare MRF is located in Brgy. Sapang Balen, managed by Engr. Jeffrey Santos.

Deng Pangilinan said Nanay Baby has granted the city waste management program with a baling machine. “Residents consider it as a gift to and a token of the governor’s sentiment for Boking,” he said.

To accommodate thousands of secondary students from five resettlement centers, the mayor established a Dapdap branch of the expanding city college. The school site was donated by the Fiesta Communities and civic leader Roland Buan who believed in Boking’s vision of MaNoMa.

“Gov. Pineda is contributing Pl0-million to the school building,” Deng said. “See how much support she gives the Mayor.” He admitted though that Derek out-whispers Gabby with the Gov.

The mayor’s spokesman said his boss does not feel insecure or get jealous of Garbo’s frequen photo ops with the governor. “Boking receives valuable material support from her. This is worth more than all the photo releases showing the governor with Garbo, among others.”

As Garbo accelerates his goodwill sorties in the barangays, Boking is fanning out to the votes-rich resettlement center. He has a crew of combat support services that distribute free ice cream, free pan de sal during his barangay day. A free medical-dental clinic goes on regular runs in strategic areas where “libreng gupit” and massage brings the mayor close to the people’s hearts, according to the mayor’s favorite son, and emerging leader, City Councilor Dwight “Alright” Morales.

Some city officials advised him to imitate the late unbeaten board member Don Pinong Laus and distribute sex enhancing pills to senior citizens to gain their standing loyalty.

Mayor Boking reportedly demurred for reasons that his lovely wife Nina will cite him for contempt, or worse, give him a 90-day suspension like Sen. Enrile.

Pangilinan who has one eye on the mayoralty in his recurrent dream said one thrust from Boking’s sword of achievements will be the coup d’ grace in the coming political bull fight.

In showbiz life, however, Derek can beat Gabby in the box office any time.
