Pampanga women affirm commitment

WHEN women gather, it would surely be a night to remember. And Pampanga women, particularly the women of Quota International Pampanga Chapter, were no exception.

In fact, the 11th Induction Ceremonies for new members and officers of the group was an event that highlighted the finest pedigree, fine clothing, and the firm commitment to share their love and help to poor communities of Pampanga.

The grand new function room of King’s Royal Hotel was not able to contain the glimmering aura of the crème de la crème of Pampanga’s celestial women elite, most of them members of Quota International Pampanga Chapter, filled the grand ballroom in their cocktail dresses.

District 41 Governor Carolina Piad, who was guest of honor and speaker, could not help but remark that the members of Quota Pampanga seemed to defy the laws of time for always appearing ageless.

The evening affair was hosted by Quotarians Maricel Morales and Mai Laus-David. It was a program filled with soft music and flagrant flair for mushy honest-to-goodness dedications and awards.

Past President Tess Laus also reminded Quotarians here to continue in burning the fire of service and help in dedicating concern for the needs of poor children and oppressed women in the communities here.

“We must also set our eyes to our fellow members who need our help. We must remember that we cannot be effective with our immediate communities if we could not even help those within our own circles,” Laus said.

Gov. Piad, who was introduced with a rousing speech by Past President Mons Laus, also presented to Quota Pampanga members this year’s new set of officers, council of presidents and directors. Past President Mons said that Quotarian officers this year are lucky to have a Gov. that has been able to show the best possible qualities of a woman leader.

“We are happy to have new more members and under the leadership of incoming President Vilma Caluag we are surely in for an exciting year ahead,” Mons Laus said.

Notable new members of Quota Pampanga this year include councilors Trina Tiglao Dizon (an aspiring Board Member) and Ludet Sicat.

The main surprise of the night was actually the awarding of Quotarian and Second District Board Member Edna David as Most Outstanding Quotarian of the Year. Quotarian Divine Tulio hailed the awarding as fitting tribute to David who has manifested her strong dedication to Quotarian ideals.

The program then proceeded with the relinquishing of Past President May Shilton as president of the club and formally turning over the helm to President Vilma Caluag. The evening was then turned into a merry night of fine food, drinks and ballroom dancing.
