Rotary Club in Angeles City holds induction rites

RIB Eye Restaurant along bucolic Balibago was filled with fine men in suits and women in delicate finery all whom were to pay homage to the 45th year existence of one of the oldest Rotary Clubs in the province.

It was the 45th Induction of Officers and Directors of the Rotary Club of Angeles. This club boasts of a steady membership of the finest families, businessmen, and private individuals that have made significant mark in the much grander history of this city.

And what better way to celebrate the history of such a fine club if not with the best wines and spirits and a generous serving of lechon and fine buffet food prepared by the discriminating taste of Rib Eye’s chefs.

This year’s induction also marks the farewell of Past President Enrico “Rico” Guilas of his fruitful stay as president of the club. Under his steady leadership and sharp community involvement, Rotary Club of Angeles was acclaimed as one of the most awarded clubs in the city.

“Being a president has thought me much in terms with the value of helping others in need and this will be one of the most treasured lessons that I will remember from Rotary,” Guilas said as he transfers the duties of his post to President Manuel “Manny” Alfonso.

President Manny is not new to the rigors of Rotary leadership having been elected in the past as Rotary President. In fact, he is the first Rotarian here elected for the second time around as president.

“This speaks highly of the confidence of our members on our leadership. This also means that we have to work double time this year,” Alfonso said.

The event was graced by Rotarian luminaries like District Governor Rolando “Oyan” Villanueva, past district governor Alvino Gonzalez and other past presidents of the club.

Alfonso said that Rotary Club of Angeles is set to embark on more community projects this year, a firm commitment that they sealed with a ceremonial toast as they drank the night away in the company of good food, friends and intoxicating spirits.
