Central Luzon electric coops gather for revived sportsfest

MEXICO -- Members of the Central Luzon Electric Cooperatives Association (Cleca) recently gathered at the headquarters of the Pampanga 1 Electric Cooperative (Pelco 1) in this town for the revived sporstfest junked many years ago.

Hundreds of employees cum players from the Aurora Electric Cooperative, Nueva Ecija 1 and 2 Electric Cooperative, Pelco 1, 2 and 3, Zambales Electric Cooperative, Peninsula Electric Cooperative, Tarlac Electric Cooperative and the Pampanga Rural Electric Services Cooperative tried to best each other in the whole day sporstfest.

According to Cleca president Reynaldo Villanueva, the meet was to forge stronger ties between the cooperatives in the region.

"We want them to unite and forge harmonious relationships. We do not only help each other in times of troubles or calamities but bond as well in occasions like this," he told Sun.Star Pampanga.

His statements were supported by Pelco 1 General Manager Loliano Allas, president of the National Association of General Managers of Electric Cooperatives Region 3.

"It is really for rest and recreation of our employees. But behind it, we want to foster unity. For reasons unknown, this supposed to be annual meet was cancelled many years ago. But we thought that reviving it was a good idea so we can also coordinate our efforts in serving our respective consumers in the region," Allas said.
