Mayor, lawmaker open summer basketball tournament

STA. ANA -- Mayor Rommel Concepcion and Representative Aurelio Gonzales Jr. led on Wednesday the grand opening of the town's basketball tournament here.
Concepcion told Sun.Star Pampanga that the basketball tournament is part of the sports development program of his administration. He said the holistic development of residents will continue if they engage in sports activities.

"This event also serves as a community gathering for the town. Social and sporting events are important in making the town lively and well-rounded," Concepcion said.
The tournament started with a grand parade along major thoroughfares of the town. Officials of the town, along with competing teams and their team muses, led the parade.
The tournament is participated in by teams from different barangays of the town. Concepcion said the activity also aims to promote camaraderie among participants and their supporters.
Meanwhile, Gonzales has agreed to sponsor prizes for the event.
