Candaba launches sports clinic

CANDABA -- The municipality of Candaba led by Mayor Jerry Pelayo on Monday launched the first of its long-term sports clinics at the Mandasig sports center here.
Pelayo said the sports clinic aims to discover potential in various athletic fields; foremost is basketball.

"Humanap tayo ng may potential sa paglalaro para madala sa Maynila para makapaglaro doon," he said.
He said the sports clinic, deemed to run beyond summer vacation, also advocates sportsmanship, discipline and hard work among the young players.
"Hindi lang ngayong bakasyon. Tuloy-tuloy pa rin ito kahit may pasok na. Ang sessions ay tuwing Sadabo at Linggo at Lunes, Martes at Huwebes mula alas otso hanggang alas onse ng umaga," he added.
He said they will also bring the program to far-flung barangays to better promote it for the youth.
An initial batch of 70 participants is enrolled in the sports clinic.
Pelayo said the sports program of Candaba is chargeable to the five percent budget of the youth council.
