CLARK FREEPORT –- The STK-Australia defeated defending champion Datis-Iran in the tough Division I of the recently held PALS 2nd Leg paintball competition held at the Clark Parade Grounds here from July 8 to 10.
Clark Development Corporation (CDC) Tourism Promotions Office Manager Noemi Garcia said the three-day paintball competition was a gathering of more than 20 local and international paintball teams, who all competed for the $3,000-championship cash prize.

In the Division II, X-tioners 2-Malaysia bested all teams in their division, including Pinoy pride Splatmasters CMP-Philippines, who were the first to be eliminated in the five-team division. Meanwhile, CMX Hamoon-Malaysia outlasted Kenjahatan-Malaysia in the Division III.
Paintball players from Iran, Japan, United States, Australia, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, and Brunei braved the strong rains wrought by Typhoon Goring on Saturday and Sunday to participate in the sports event.
The third and last leg of the PALS paintball tournament is set in Malaysia this coming November, Garcia said.
CDC President Felipe Antonio B. Remollo said the organizer of the event, led by United Paintballers of the Philippines (UPP) President Leonard Sy, cited the Clark Freeport as an ideal site for the competition.
Remollo added that the paintball competition is only one of the many sports events that would be held regularly in Clark.
He said that one of CDC’s thrust is to bring more tourists to Clark through sports tourism.
“The paintball competition is merely the start of something big. In fact, we will be hosting a Sports Tourism Forum on July 19 at the Holiday Inn Clark organized by Selrahco Management Consultancy Services, in cooperation with the CDC and DOT,” Remollo said.
Remollo noted that the Sports Tourism Forum uses a “scientific and methodological” approach to orient Clark stakeholders, including those in and around the Central Luzon Region, on how to capitalize on sports to boost the local tourism industry.
The PALS 2nd Leg paintball competition is organized by the United Paintballers of the Philippines (UPP), Clark Development Corporation, and the Department of Tourism Regional Office led by Director Ronnie Tiotuico.
