CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Provincial Government will bring to Pampanga world-class American football games soon, featuring international and local teams, at the Challenger Field inside Air Force City at Clark Freeport.
According to the event’s focal person Art Punsalan, the games will be made possible through the American Football Federation of the Philippines (AFFP).
He said local officials see the event as a fitting occasion to promote an interest in football and highlight the local football team, the Philippine Punishers.
American football is one of the many popular sports in the United States that has also gained popularity in various countries.
“Our Governor (Lilia Pineda) and Vice Governor (Joseller Guiao) are very proud of this upcoming event that is also seen as the next sports tourism attraction for Pampanga. We are also very happy that our local team will be battling it off with foreign football teams,” Punsalan said.
The event is the first of its kind in Central Luzon and is expected to generate attention to local Kapampangan products that will also be featured in the event.
Punsalan said they also expect Filipinos to rally support for the Philippine Punishers.
The Philippine Punishers Team is comprised of Filipinos, Filipino-Americans and expatriates representing the country in international competitions. The team will be battling with Guam All Stars on April 28 and Hong Kong Cobras on May 5.
All the games are free of admission and will provide spectators the opportunity to watch hard-hitting 11-on-11 American Football.
The event is also made possible by Miller Football League and the Hong Kong American Football League.
