Yeng to ‘go for the kill’ in Game 1

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - Determined champion coach and Pampanga Vice Governor Joseller “Yeng” Guiao disclosed over the weekend that he will “go for the kill” early in Game 1 of the best of seven series of the PBA Philippine Cup finals on Wednesday at 6:45 p.m., as he steers the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters to another crown on top of the Governors Cup championship recently.
The Rain or Shine squad will face the Talk n Text Tropang Texters, who finished the Alaska Milk Aces, 83-78, in what Guiao said will be “another wave of fierce battles” which will again test the mettle of the Elasto Painters and pit his strategies and tactics with that of coach Norman Black at the Smart Araneta Center.
While watching the last TnT-Aces game over coffee, Guiao told Sun.Star Pampanga that his boys will have to be consistent in both offense and defense, to edge out and rule the series over the stubborn Tropang Texters.
“We need to be consistent to win. As usual, we must have superb rebounding and ball movement and more assists to rule the boards and the hard court. Those are the things that coaches will always be talking about, the assists and rebounding numbers,” said Guiao.
He added that the Elasto Painters will enter the series fully inspired and loaded with desire for another crown.
“The boys are different as far as competition is concerned. We have big guys who can shoot from the outside and at the same time, it will be very physical inside both offensively and defensively. I am optimistic this will boost the team’s objective of another championship,” concluded Guiao.
