CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Top darts player Bryan Eribal III, who ranks 7th in the world, will launch the “Learn Darts, Learn Math” project in public and private schools in Porac this year.

Second district Board Member Olga Frances “Fritzie” David-Dizon has welcomed Eribal’s plan, which she says will benefit the program of quality education pushed by Governor Lilia Pineda.

Eribal of Barangay Baludbad, Porac disclosed his plan to David-Dizon when they met at her office last week. He told the 40-year-old board member about his project to help children in schools learn the sports and mathematics.

“The link between playing darts and improved ability at math is well proven in places such as the United Kingdom, where the government introduced darts in schools as way to help kids learn math, and with great success. When playing darts, players have to make instant mental calculations, quickly adding, multiplying and subtracting their scores,” said Eribal in the explanatory note of his Darts Game Clinic-School Caravan program.

Eribal, who retained his ranking after competing in The World Soft Darts Championship 2012 at the KTEC Kowloon International Trade Exhibition Centre in Hong Kong last December, presented to David-Dizon his trophy “as a gesture of gratitude” to the woman board member from Porac.

David-Dizon pushed for the approval of a Provincial Board resolution allowing Eribal to receive P40,000 from the sports development funds of Governor Pineda. He used them in the competition in Hong Kong.

“Of course, we also want to thank the hardworking governor for supporting the sports that put Porac and Pampanga in the international limelight,” said Eribal, who is set to compete this year in Hong Kong, France and United States of America.

David-Dizon said she will sponsor a resolution congratulating Eribal for his outstanding performance as darts player and pledging to support him in his future endeavors.

She said “it is gratifying to note to have darts player like Eribal who brings honor and prestige” for Pampanga.

Eribal finished 17th over-all in the recent tournament in Hong Kong participated in by 128 top players in the world.
