Village residents finish Rotary, Tesda program

ANGELES CITY -- Some 28 residents from Barangay Capaya I, this city finished a Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda)-sponsored Massage Therapy and Wellness Skills Training Program on Monday.

The program is a joint project of the Rotary Club of Mabalacat and Rotary Club of Magalang, which facilitated the training requirements and management of the program in coordination with Tesda.

Most of the graduates are members of the Rotary Community Corps of Capaya I headed by President Mary Ann Tagoctoc.

The training program conducted by trainer Jett Bustos of Asian Touch Institute involved 96 hours of classroom lectures and 404 hours of practicum via community service.

Tony Shilton, president of the Rotary Club of Mabalacat, said the program will equip the trainees with the necessary skills to earn their living as massage therapists.

He said with enough skills and a start-up budget, the graduates may group themselves together and put up their own massage therapy spa.

Jessie Pangan of Rotary Club of Magalang also announced that the next beneficiary of the joint project will be the members of the Rotary Community Corps of Tabun Angeles City organized by Alma Mercado, community service chair of RC Mabalacat.

Present during the graduation ceremonies were Alex Laguisma, assistant Governor of Rotary International cluster 3B, Kagawad Jun Cresencio of Barangay Tabun, and other Rotarians from Pampanga.
