FAR Eastern University (FEU) should have been in the UAAP Finals. Not University of the East. I can say that with conviction.
One, FEU was ranked No. 2 behind Ateneo. Two, FEU had been playing true to form. Three, FEU had its one foot to the Finals when FEU itself—can you believe this?—slammed the door shut on its face.

I mean, when FEU looked all set to wrap it all up, it did the unthinkable.
It dropped its top gun. If that wasn’t a shocker, I don’t know what is.
Mark Barroca shouldered FEU to the Final 4. He gave FEU a rare twice-to-beat advantage over UE.
All that evaporated when FEU management tossed Barroca out hours before the team met UE for the right to face Ateneo for the UAAP crown.
Naturally, UE beat FEU in Game 1.
When FEU again grounded Barroca in the no-more-tomorrow Game 2, UE prevailed anew—but, of course.
I tell you there was no remorse at all from the side of FEU. It wanted to lose, anyways.
That was the essence of FEU’s bizarre verdict to drop Barroca.
Although everybody’s saying Barroca was sacked for game-fixing, FEU was humming a different tune.
According to FEU management, Barroca was removed “with the objective of improving team chemistry.”
If that wasn’t BS, I don’t know what is. If that wasn’t an insult to our intelligence, I don’t know what is.
If Phil Jackson grounds Kobe Bryant “to improve team chemistry” for the Lakers in the playoffs, will the greatest NBA coach go scot-free?
The least he’d get, I guess, would be a public lynching by even the coach from the opposing side for insulting our IQs.
In scuttling Barroca, I think FEU denied the public of its right to a watch what probably would be a superb game against UE.
Wasn’t that an act of game-fixing itself?
Barroca wasn’t proven guilty of game-fixing and he got sacked.
You have this naked proof from FEU itself of what amounts to game-fixing when it gave Barroca the boot—and FEU gets away with it?
I mean, you are a whisker away from the Finals, you kick out your top gun—what’s that for?
I wasn’t born yesterday, fellers.
FEU needs to do a lot of explaining.
