CALASIAO -- The popular “Wowowee” game show hosted by comedian Willie Revillame was held here Sunday night.
The special show (just a portion of Wowowee) was a birthday gift of Representative Ma. Rachel Arenas to her constituents in Pangasinan’s third district.

Revillame opened the show at 7 p.m. and recorded the Bigatin portion of Wowowee, where players were picked from the audience. About 20,000 people trooped to the town plaza to witness the show.
During the show, Revillame and the organizers decided to cut short the program to prevent stampede, as the crowd started to push and shove to get near the stage when the comedian-host started to give away cash prizes.
An ABS-CBN North-Central Luzon staff clarified that the show was not mounted by them, although their news team was there to cover the event.
The holding of the Wowowee show was first scheduled here on November 24, 2007 at the Lingayen beach area. Governor Amado Espino then organized a “Wowowee Task Force” to the crowd’s security and safety.
However, this was cancelled because of the storm that affected the coastal areas of the province. This was rescheduled to May 17, 2008 but was again postponed due to a typhoon. (LCMY/Sunnex)
