MANGALDAN, Pangasinan -- Two children, aged three and two, were burned beyond recognition when their house was gutted by fire Tuesday noon.
The fatalities were sisters Zarah Dana and Venice Alexa Nicolas of Barangay Bari, Mangaldan.

Police Superintendent Roberto Vocal said based on the initial investigation, their mother Adora Beth and relatives were not able to save the two, who were trapped at the second floor of their house, as the fire immediately spread and gutted down the house that is made of light materials.
Investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire.
Meanwhile, in Villasis town, a bakery and food equipment store located along Maharlika highway was also hit by fire.
A fire station official said the fire only reached first alarm and did not spread to nearby business establishments.
Accordingly, the bakery equipment and other items on display were not damaged.
As of this writing Wednesday, firemen are attending to a fire incident along M.H. Del Pilar Street in Dagupan City.
As gathered, the fire is at a canteen and ukay-ukay store beside the Baguio-Dagupan van terminal. (LCMY/Sunnex)
