3 Pangasinense SK officers feted



LINGAYEN -- The president of the Pangasinan Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation, Board Member Kazel Celeste, was adjudged as one of the five Most Outstanding SK Provincial Federation Presidents nationwide.

Two other SK leaders from Pangasinan made it as Oskar (Outstanding SK Awards and Recognition) recipients.

They are Bayambang SK Federation President Krezza Ann Camacho (municipal category) and Dagupan City SK Federation President Carlos Alipio Fernandez III (city category).

About 3,500 SK leaders (national, provincial down to barangay levels) from all over the country are currently in Subic Free Port for the National SK Congress.

The convention, which started last October 27 and will end on October 30, is being held at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center.

National Youth Commission (NYC) Commissioner Jane Censoria Cajes said there were five awardees per category including that in the barangay category.

The awards were conferred Wednesday morning by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo who was the keynote speaker.

Cajes, SK national federation president, said among the agenda that will be taken during the plenary session are the proposed amendments of SK constitution and by-laws which includes the SK’s budgeting, system and procedures in handling complaints/grievances against SK chairmen.

She further said the Commission on Elections (Comelec) will in one automated voting machine and demonstration to the youth leaders how the voting system will be come 2010 elections.

Cajes said 80 percent of today’s SK members are of voting age by May 2010.
