DAGUPAN CITY -- Preparation is in full swing for the canonical installation on November 4 of Bishop Socrates Villegas to the Lingayen-Dagupan Archdiocese.
The event will be held at the St. John the Evangelist Cathedral located at Burgos Street.

Bishop Villegas succeeds Archbishop Oscar Cruz.
Pangasinan Provincial Director Percival Barba said the police have prepared an action plan to maintain peace and order on that day. They will be deploying additional policemen here to augment that of the Dagupan City Police Station.
On the other hand, the Public Order and Safety Office (Poso) will be implementing a re-routing plan on that day.
Accordingly, Burgos-Jovellanos Street and Burgos-Bonifacio Streets will be temporarily closed for the event.
From 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Zamora street will be closed for the procession entourage of Bishop Villegas from the Archbishop’s Palace to the old cathedral. It will be opened to the motorists immediately after.
Vehicles passing through A.B. Fernandez Avenue may turn left to Rizal Street, Galvan Street or Zamora Street and exit at Pere Perez Boulevard.
Westbound vehicles are advised to take A.B. Fernandez West, turn left at Careenan Street and exit at Sec. Francisco Duque St.-Burgos Extension or Tapuac. Private vehicles can also take the Dawel-Pantal-Lucao Diversion Road.
To be used as parking areas are the following: A.B. Fernandez Avenue-Zamora Street up to Jovellanos St. (Eastside only), St. John Cathedral School Compound, stretch of Rivera Street up to Rizal Street, (southside only); single lane parking from Burgos Street (Lim Pan) up to Burgos Street-Perez Boulevard (west and eastside), Bonifacio Street (southside only); single lane parking from A.B.F. Avenue-Zamora Street up to Babaliwan Area (north and southside), West Central Elementary School Compound, City Plaza, Poolside Compound, west and eastside of Burgos Extension and northside of Jovellanos Street.
Meanwhile, Bishop Villegas is considered as the youngest Archbishop at the age 48.
During the incumbency of the late Manila Archbishop Jaime Cardinal Sin, he served as auxiliary bishop during the time of Manila Archbishop Jaime Cardinal Sin. His last assignment was in Balanga. (LCMY/Sunnex)
