“I’ve heard there is a new suspect, a new development to the case because of one new witness. The authorities have to pursue that. The investigation can be continued,” he said.
“I think they can file the case immediately so they can ask for a warrant of arrest because what happened was brutal. This is murder so if they have a suspect and witness, they should be able get that right away,” Espino remarked.
From Funeraria Quioque, the remains of Zharlene were brought home to their residence in Barangay Tambac early Sunday morning.
The burial was moved from Monday to Tuesday at 8 a.m.
Meanwhile, concern is gripping parents who have children working on duty in the evening until dawn because of what happened to Zharlene.
Some accompany their nursing-student or nurse daughters to the hospital where they are working or having internship and fetch them later.
Zharlene was a volunteer reliever nurse at the Dagupan Doctors Hospital and Medical Centrum.
Last July 2, her shift at the hospital was supposed to be until 7 a.m. But she dismissed her students at 4 a.m. as she had stomach ache. She did not leave the hospital vicinity until all her students got rides home.
About 100 meters away from the Yadao residence, two unidentified men riding in a motorcycle approached and shot dead Zharlene.
On Thursday afternoon, a concern citizen came out and divulged to an Aksyon Radyo anchorman and later to the police investigator information which he believed could shed light as to who killed the victim.
