Dagupan to mark 64th charter-A A +A

DAGUPAN City will celebrate its 64th Agew na Dagupan (Dagupan Day) on June 20 with the theme "Aliguas na Baley, Eebatan na Balang Sinansakey."
The weeklong celebration started on June 12, coinciding with the observance of the 115th Philippine Independence Day.
Some of the activities include Sukata'y Talisiw (quiz bee focused on the history of Dagupan City), Taoir (The Heritage Collection) Exhibit, and the Dagupan Delicacies Exhibit.
On June 19 (150th birthday of national hero Jose Rizal), the Dagupan City Government and Dagupan City Schools Division will join a nationwide fun run.
On June 20, a thanksgiving mass will be held, to be celebrated by Archbishop Villegas. Young Dagupeno achievers (aged 15-29 years old) will be also conferred the Rizal Youth Excellence Award on the same day.
Dagupan's chartering was authored by then Speaker Eugenio Perez.
On June 20, 1947, President Manuel A. Roxas signed into law Republic Act 170, creating the City of Dagupan. (Liway C. Manantan-Yparraguirre/Sunnex)
