LINGAYEN -- Dr. Victoriano Estira was re-appointed as president of the Pangasinan State University (PSU), with 8-2 vote of the Board of Regents.
"The board has already given their verdict. My appointment paper has been signed, time to move on and focus our attention to the needs of our students and to our programs and medium term plans," Estira said Tuesday afternoon.
He said he is very happy with the re-appointment. "I am already relieved of the stress and agony. Those dissenting in the past, I have to work with them and continue pursuing our mission and vision."
Estira, whose first term ends Sunday, June 19, said his reappointment allows him to put up a college of law within the year and college of medicine by 2012.
The term for a PSU president is four years. Espira's second term will end 2015.
The voting was held last Monday at the Commission on Higher Education (Ched) central office in Manila.
The meeting was presided by Ched Chairman Patricia Licuanan. (Liway C. Manantan-Yparraguirre/Sunnex)
