Student killed inside school campus

DAGUPAN CITY -- A 14-year-old incoming second year high school student was found dead inside the Dagupan City National High Campus around 1 p.m. Friday.
The victim, identified as Madeline Goyena, died from stab wounds and from the bashing she sustained in the head. She is a resident of Calarin Road at Malued District, this city.
Witnesses told police investigators that Goyena was seen talking to a male teenager at a bench in front of a classroom. The said teenager identified as Dennis Escano, 18, was also seen rushing away from the crime scene.
Escano, now considered a suspect, is a resident of Barangay Naguilayan, Binmaley. He was invited by investigators around 11 p.m. Friday for questioning.
Also on Friday, the city police filed before the City Fiscal’s Office a murder case against him and three John Does.
Initial investigation disclosed that Goyena went to the school to participate in the last day of Brigada Eskwela and to check the location of her classroom.
The investigators learned that she met Escano, who owes her P16,000.
Escano graduated last April at the said school. The two are allegedly friends.
Dagupan City Police Chief Romeo Caramat Jr. said that based on three witnesses, the two were seen walking toward the classroom at the back of the bench where the victim and the suspect were conversing.
The witnesses, however, walked back when the suspect gave them a dagger look. Not long after, they heard a girl’s scream from the back of the classrooms.
When the witnesses checked where it was coming, they saw Goyena sprawled at grassy portion, blood oozing from hear head and from the stab wounds she sustained in her body.
Another witness allegedly met the suspect running away from the crime scene.
The investigators recovered at the crime scene a broken knife and two large stones believed to have been used in banging the head of the victim.
Goyena’s remains now lie at Funeraria Ideal at Arellano Street in this city. (Sunnex)
