Guv mourns death of Lingayen mayor

PANGASINAN Governor Amado Espino Jr. mourned the passing of Lingayen Mayor Ernesto "Jonas" Castaneda who died last Saturday due to a heart problem.
"We mourn the death of a dear friend and fellow public servant," he said.
The governor said Castaneda's passing was untimely, "a great loss to us, most especially to our constituents."
"Mayor Jonas will forever be remembered for his humility, kindness and deep concern for the masses," Espino said.
Provincial Administrator Rafael Baraan also prayed for the eternal repose of the soul of Castañeda during a program attended by employees and officials.
At the provincial capitol plaza, the flag was hoisted at half-mast.
Castaneda died while at the Philippine Heart Center in Manila where he was confined since two weeks ago. He was 67.
His remains now lie in state at their residence in Barangay Maniboc, Lingayen where the wake is. (PNA/Sunnex)
