DPWH bares P340M projects for 2nd, 4th districts-A A +A

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan -- The 2nd Highway Engineering District has lined up P340 million worth of projects which were approved in the recent budget hearing in the House of Representatives as part of the National Expenditures Program.
"Our projects are mainly asset preservation and preventive maintenance of roads and bridges," said 2nd Highway District Engr. Elpidio Paragas, speaking before the Provincial Council.
The 2nd Highway Engineering District Office covers the second as well as fourth congressional districts of Pangasinan.
Paragas said the allocation for regular infrastructure projects in the second congressional district is almost P200 million; and about P140 million for the fourth district.
Projects to be undertaken in the second congressional district are the reblocking and road widening along the Pangasinan-Zambales and Pangasinan-Tarlac roads; replacement of bridges such as that of Kiray Bridge and Bocboc Bridge in Aguilar; completion of the Phase 2 of San Jose Bridge in Baay, Lingayen with its Phase 1 to be finished this year; and construction of five drainage systems along the Pangasinan-Zambales road with a budget of P20 million.
He said the budget for road widening is set at about P10 million per kilometer.
On the other hand, projects for the fourth district next year are construction of drainage system worth P13 million; Php75-million road widening projects along Binmaley-Lucao boundary, Mangaldan-Manaoag-Binalonan, and Sta.Barbara-Mangaldan roads; replacement of Lucao No. 2 Bridge, P75 million; building of an about 1.5-kilometer gravity wall or the construction and maintenance of riverbank protection along Pantal-Sinocalan, Dagupan City, P46 million, Paragas said.
Paragas said they will start implementing the projects "once the fund is released to us."
He also said his office is requesting from the Department of Public Works and Highways Central Office to allow them to use their savings from previous years to fund other infrastructure projects in his area of jurisdiction. (PNA)
