THE police disarmed a bank security guard who shot and wounded one of their fellow officer while the latter was chasing a robbery suspect at the rooftop of the bank at 12:10 p.m. last November 29 in Mangatarem town.

Police Officer 2 (PO2) Ronald Allan Caoile, 36, a member of the Mangatarem police, is still fighting for his life at Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City after he was shot from the ground by security guard Mario Saura, 34, using his service shotgun.

Caoile at that time was chasing a minor who allegedly robbed the Mine Shine Hardware just beside the Gulf Bank.

Saura opened fire from inside the security guard's barracks, hitting Caoile in different parts of his body.

Caoile was first rushed to Velasquez Clinic in Barangay Mabini, Mangatarem for medical treatment and later evacuated to Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City for further treatment.

The security guard voluntarily surrendered to the police after the incident. (PNA)
