2 killed in bus heist in Sariaya, Quezon

SARIAYA, Quezon -- A bus dispatcher and the conductor were killed when two unidentified hold-uppers fired at them in a robbery incident early Friday morning.

Sariaya Police initial investigation reported that a Manila-bound Raymond Bus with plate number UWG 333 from Bicol traversed the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Concepcion 1 in Sariaya Quezon.

As the passenger bus halted in the area, two unidentified men posing as passengers boarded the bus driven by Ariel Marantal with his conductor Francisco Pedrahita.

According to some witnesses, the two assailants suddenly declared a heist and shot both Pedrahita and bus dispatcher Leovino Lizano who took the front seats.

The two died on the spot after sustaining gunshot wounds in the head.

The robbers fled on board a motorcycle heading toward Barangay Concepcion Palasan in Sariaya Quezon.

As of press time, Sariaya police operatives are still conducting investigation of the case. (PNA)
