City Social Welfare and Development Officer-In-Charge Leah L. Aquino said that initial beneficiaries of the program are out-of-school youths and job-seekers aged 18 to 35.
“We are inviting interested Dagupeños to take advantage of this rare opportunity. They just have to visit us at the City Social Welfare and Development office and bring with them their high school card, birth certificate, barangay clearance and an endorsement letter from Mayor Belen,” said Aquino.
The scholarship will be implemented with the help of technical and vocational schools in Dagupan, Aquino said.
Qualified applicants will have a chance to learn and be trained in welding, care-giving, massage, hotel and restaurant management, nail art training for two weeks, hair cutting, housekeeping, carpentry, hardware services, diesel mechanic, automotive and food and beverages.
Fernandez also requested Andre Abalos, president of the Pangasinan Association of Private Technical Vocational Institutions, to teach at last 10 vegetable vendors in the city on merchandising, noting the need to help these people learn the proper way of arranging their goods in a manner that would attract more buyers.
Abalossaid they are doing this to help Dagupeños build a good future for themselves. (PNA)
