STA. MARIA, Pangasinan -- The police here are puzzled over the discovery of six pieces of rifle grenade and one piece of M25A2 riot control grenade in a cornfield in Barangay Namagbagan, Sta. Maria, around 8:30 a.m. of February 7.
The explosives were discovered by a concerned citizen who reported these to Namagbagan barangay chairman Conrado Macaraeg, who subsequently turned the grenades over to the Sta. Maria Police Station.
The police are now checking on who owns the grenades and how they were brought to the cornfield in Barangay Namagbagan.
Many believed these are from the Armed Forces of the Philippines but there were wild speculations alleging that they belong to the New People's Army. (NPA)
