THE Dagupan City Government will be taking 120 more college scholars to replace the slots of 120 scholars who have completed their four-year course this year, said Mayor Belen Fernandez.
Those who have graduated were the initial batch of scholars taken in by the City since the scholarship program began in 2014 under her administration.
So far, there are 500 college scholars of Dagupan.
Fernandez said prospective scholars, accompanied by their respective parents, must lodge their applications at City Hall, where they will be evaluated and interviewed by a committee in charge of the scholarship program.
The scholar applicants trooped to Fernandez's office on Monday, May 15, as they are ready to enroll in their chosen school since classes are starting sometime in mid-June this year.
The scholars will be enrolled in different private colleges and universities in Dagupan, same as the previous scholars.
Fernandez said the City has allotted P20 million for the college scholarships of Dagupan youth, up from P5 million in 2014, P10 million in 2015 and P15 million in 2016.
She said she was overwhelmed with much pride as the 120 initial scholars have graduated and are now looking for their respective jobs so that they can help their families. (PNA)
