A RETIRED soldier killed on Thursday evening, February 8, his own son in Binalonan, Pangasinan following a heated argument.
Binalonan police deputy chief Senior Inspector Rommel Sembrano said Manuel Asimba, 66, a former member of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army, admitted shooting his son Aurelio, 43 around 8:30 p.m. inside their residence in Barangay Mangsacuy, Binalonan.
Aurelio obtained three shots to the chest, causing his instantaneous death.
According to Asmiba’s wife, his son who arrived in their house intoxicated was asking her for money which she refused to give.
“Nanghihiram ng pera sa akin. Sabi ko okay papa mo ikaw magsabi. Hindi ko daw siya matulungan tapos sinigaw-sigawan ako. Tapos hinamon nya papa niya at nagalit na nga ama niya,” she said.
(He wanted to borrow money. I told him to go ask his father. He screamed at me and complained about how I could not help him. Then he challenged his father to a fight.)
Sembrano said Asimba had told the police that whenever his son is drunk, he would go to their house and challenge his father to a fight.
He said Asimba did not evade arrest and waited for the police to arrive. He also voluntarily surrendered the .45 caliber pistol that he used against his son.
Asimba will be facing charges of parricide. (SunStar Philippines)
