SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) scored a major victory in its anti-drug campaign with the discovery of a marijuana plantation at the boundary of Ilocos Sur and Benguet provinces.
Last Saturday, Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Director Eduardo Dopale said joint elements of the Ilocos Sur Provincial Public Safety Company, the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Group (PAIDSOTG), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 1 (PDEA-R1) and the police stations of Sugpon and Alilem towns in Ilocos Sur conducted an operation at two marijuana plantations in Mt. Kenhetgaw.

The anti-drug operatives uprooted and confiscated marijuana plants and seedlings with an estimated value of P106.6 million.
“The plantation area covers approximately 20,000 square meters, from which our operatives uprooted about 350,000 fully-grown marijuana plants and 40,000 marijuana seedlings,” said Dopale.
Some of the marijuana plants were hauled to the Ilocos Sur Provincial Police Office in Bantay town for future evidence. The rest were burned at the site. (LCMY/Sunnex)
